Get Physical/July 8-14, 2012

Models are on the move! This is your place to post where, when, and what time you, your teams, coaches and supporters are getting together to exercise. When posting a comment, please include the date, time, and location of the activity, and anything participants need to bring (i.e., stretch bands, towels, tennis rackets, helmets, etc.) Also, please provide a contact name and number. Schedules can change quickly, so please be sure to post under the correct week…each and every week!

    FTF Week 17:

    Dear Family, Friends, Team Members, and FTF Co-Models,

    Please forgive me for missing week 16; last weekend started with some sobering news and it took me a little while to work out how the week was going to play out for me. I think I have a handle on things and a plan, and those who know me best know that once I have a plan I am unstoppable πŸ™‚ The biopsy from week 15 came back with the very unpleasant diagnosis of Stage II Thyroid Cancer. Sobering yes, terminal no… and I have a plan πŸ™‚ I am extremely concerned about losing ground in all the positive healthy changes I’ve made, but my Coach Sharie assures me that she will get me whipped back into shape in no time, and both Bruce Sr. and Bruce Jr. have reminded me that the strength I’ve worked so hard to gain will only serve to help recover quicker. The Lord works in mysterious ways. The kicker is, I really do feel great!

    Okay, so here’s the work out schedule for this week, let me know if you want to join me?

    Monday 07/09
    The Studio 114 at 5pm for Yin Yoga then at 6pm for Core Fit, Cherie, do you want to try Yoga with me too? Carrie, c’mon give Core Fit a try with us… if you can make it through Judy’s pre-step conditioning, you’ll make it through Core Fit and feel better after πŸ™‚

    Tuesday 07/10
    Day Off, Bruce and I have an appointment at Dana Farber in Boston in the afternoon and I really don’t know when I will be back home. Wish me luck πŸ™‚ Toni, I will swing by and pick up that slicer after the appt.

    Weds. 07/11
    Pilates at 5:45pm at The Studio 114.
    Zumba at 6:00pm at The Studio 114.
    (Remember there is the stretch band class at the Putnam Farmers Market @ 7pm. $4 per class or you can sign up for a 5 class session ($20).

    I can’t praise this gym enough, remember the first class is free, drop in’s are welcome (except Thurs. Step Class ) at $8.00 per class. It is one of the most welcoming work out facilities I’ve ever experienced, and all fitness levels are embraced.

    Running on North Road in E.Killingly after work, probably about 5:30pm

    Sat. 07/14
    FTF event Joggin’ the Noggin 7am to 11:30am at QVCC, Dawna if I don’t get your address before then, and you don’t see an opportunity to hook up, I will pay you on Saturday.

    PLEASE NOTE SCHEDULE CHANGE FOR THIS WEEK ONLY. Training will be held on SUNDAY instead of Saturday.

    DKH Give it a TRI Training Series for the August 25 triathlon, SUNDAY, JULY 15TH at Moosup Pond, Moosup Pond Road, Plainfield, CT.

    Bike Route – Starts at 9am. 12 miles. Must have helmet. Riding at all paces, several mentors available.

    Walking/Jogging – Starts at 10:30am. 3 mile loop. All speeds welcome.

    Swimming – Moosup Pond at 8am. 1/4 mile swim. Swim escorts and boat available to assist swimmers. Please note, there are a number of TRI teams looking for swimmers. If interested, send an email to klane@daykimball.org

    Participants who did the training sessions last year found them to be extremely helpful.

    Wednesdays – 7-8pm – Stretch Band Resistance Exercise – Putnam Farmers Market on the Putnam Rivertrail! Bring a medium-resistance stretch band (green) or buy one there.

    Fitness instructor Amy Williams will hold resistance band classes OUTDOORS every Wednesday night from 7 to 8pm at the Farmers Market Pavilion on the Putnam Rivertrail, just off Kennedy Drive. Only $4 per class with a 5 class minimum commitment (and you don’t have to take the classes consecutively.) To join, contact Amy at 860-455-3048, at mikewithamy@att.net or just show up any Wednesday! What a great sight it will be to see everyone exercising together outdoors on Wednesday evenings! Special thanks to our HealthQuest Northeast CT partner – the Putnam Economic and Development Department for coordinating this effort!
