The Northeast District Department of Health
NDDH serves over 85,000 residents in 12 towns and covers approximately 438 square miles. Through community partnerships, we prevent illness, promote wellness and protect the health of the residents of northeastern Connecticut by monitoring health concerns and encouraging healthy lifestyles.
The Heart Truth
Follow the Fifty is sponsored by a grant from the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health as part of a public-private partnership with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to promote The Heart Truth®, a women’s heart health awareness and action campaign. Funding is provided by individuals and corporations including The Heart Truth partners Belk Department Stores, Diet Coke, and Swarovski. ®The Heart Truth, its logo, and The Red Dress are registered trademarks of HHS.
HealthQuest Northeast Connecticut
HealthQuest is a regional health and wellness partnership working together to make northeastern CT a healthier place to live, work, learn and play. Our focus is on reducing chronic diseases through policy changes in our schools, worksites, communities and homes that promote:
- Active living and healthy eating (increasing physical activity and access to better nutrition)
- Tobacco-free living (preventing and reducing tobacco use)
- The increased use of high impact quality clinical preventive services (implementing strategies to control high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and prevent diabetes)
